The Colorado Experiment, conducted by Arthur Jones, tested High Intensity Training's effectiveness in bodybuilding.
Casey Viator, the first subject, gained 63 pounds of muscle in 28 days, while Jones himself gained 15 pounds in 22 days.
Victor, a former Mr. America, participated after two years of no exercise, challenging the traditional high-volume training approach.
The results demonstrated significant muscle gain (more than 60 pounds) in just 28 days with 12 high-intensity workouts, each lasting less than 30 minutes.

Yes same, I do enjoy the time in the gym but at a certain point I realised I have to just be in there for as little time as possible because I've got so much other stuff I need to do. This system really work, so glad I came across it.
Anyone skeptical about implementing this should absolutely do it. The proof is in the pudding, you will get bigger & stronger every workout in terms of volume & strength. Don't knock it before you try it. I've been in a cut for 3 months using this program & I am still building muscle & strength. It is the holy grail of workout routines. Lose your egos & accept that 3 x 12 is a widely accepted fallacy & when training at the intensity that Mike Mentzer preaches, 1 set will be more than enough. You simply cannot push to absolute failure for more than 1 set,
otherwise it wouldn't be true failure..
FAQ
Can beginners follow Mike Mentzer’s HIT?
Yes, but beginners should focus on proper form and technique before training to failure. Once confident in their form, they can progressively add intensity to their workouts.
How long should a HIT workout last?
HIT workouts are short by design. A typical session can last anywhere from 30–45 minutes, depending on how quickly you move between exercises.
What happens if I don’t fully recover between workouts?
Inadequate recovery can lead to overtraining, which may result in decreased performance, muscle loss, and an increased risk of injury. Always prioritize recovery to ensure long-term progress.
